Born September 1, 1922 in Mamuslia, Romania to Wilhelm and Magdalena (Stom) Martin, he married Waneda McGee on December 1, 1962 in Washington. She died May 17, 2000.
Karl was also preceded in death by 1 daughter, Marlene Metts; 1 sister; and 1 brother.
Surviving are 1 son, Karl H. (Tami) Martin of O’Fallon, Missouri; a son-in-law, Bill Metts of Creve Coeur; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 1 brother, Alfred Martin in Germany; and 1 sister, Annette Weiler in Germany.
Karl worked as an auto body repairman for 25 years, retiring from Ideal Autobody in Peoria in 1983.
He enjoyed gardening and watching Western movies and TV shows.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
