

Born January 17, 1936 in Prairie City to Durant and Gwendolyn (Worden) Reed, she married Lyle Lee Logsdon on March 2, 1973 in Pekin. He died March 22, 2010 in Green Valley. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one step-son, David Logsdon; and one grandson.
Surviving are three daughters, Jody Hutton of Green Valley, Cathy DeYoung of Pekin and Lorie Hofreiter of Manito; one son, Steven Beatty of Pekin; three step-sons, Murl (Marilyn) Smith of Manito, Randall (Judy) Logsdon of Bishop, GA and Richard (Colleen) Logsdon of Mapleton; two step-daughters, Debbie (Rick) Jackson of Manito and Sandra Emmert of Albuquerque, NM; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Carol) Reed of Cuba, IL; and one sister, Martha E. Smith.
Kate had worked at the American Distilling Company, Crown Cleaners, and later at the Dragon’s Den in the Pekin Community High School East Campus, all in Pekin, and last at the Warf Restaurant in Peoria
She was a member of the Celestial City Chapter #333, Order of the Eastern Star, where she was past matron, grand representative, and past grand officer; Pythian Sisters, Sunbeam Temple #217; 65-year member and past Honor Queen of Bethel #55 of Job’s Daughters, and member and past worthy high priestess of Victoria Shrine #83, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, all of Pekin, and the Pekin Hospital Auxiliary. She was member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pekin.
Her visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory, with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 1:30 p.m. Cremation will be accorded.
Memorial contributions may be given to Bethel #55 of Job’s Daughter’s in Pekin.
