

Born October 9, 1924, in Chicago to Jack and Winnifred Fanning. They preceded him in death.
He married LaVerne Mabel Knox on July 19, 1952, in Chicago. She passed away on March 8, 2010. Surviving are his two sons: Jonathan (Donna) Fanning of Dyer, Indiana, and David (Luanne) Fanning of Yukon, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Sam) Johnson, of Antioch, Tennessee, Ryan (Erica) Fanning of Tremont, Illinois, Kristi Fanning, a missionary in British Columbia, Canada, and James (Paige) Petty of Akron, Indiana, and 8 great-grandchildren: Jase, Aaron, Alex, Jonathan, Melissa, Emily, Sarah and Savannah. Also surviving is his sister Patsy Weber in Atlanta, Georgia.
Kenny entered the U.S. Coast Guard during his high school years and served during WW2. After the service, He worked as a diesel mechanic at U.S. Steel in Chicago. He and his sweetheart, LaVerne, served the Lord faithfully for over 40 years in children's ministries at Bellevue Baptist Church in Chicago and at Deer Creek Christian Church in University Park, Illinois. He loved performing Christian magic and challenged his students to memorize Bible verses and the Books of the Bible. He later attended Pekin Bible Church.
A funeral service will be held Friday October 23, at 11 a.m. at Pekin Bible Church 2405 Court St, Pekin, Illinois 61554. Pastor Chad Nitengale wiill officiate. Burial will be Monday October 26, 2020 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
