

PEKIN- Kenneth “Kenny” Holmes, 84, of Pekin, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Timber Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Pekin. He was born January 22, 1928 in Creal Springs, Illinois to Guss and Laura (Deaton) Holmes. He married Emma Evans in Pekin November 19, 1949. She preceded him in death June 11, 1999.
Surviving are three sons: Gary (Cindy) Holmes of Hanna City, Illinois, Sam Holmes of Chicago, Illinois, Dale (Lin) Holmes of Pekin; six grandchildren: Arlo (Felicia) Holmes and son William; Rachel (Lance) Negley and their children Aiden and Emma; Cara (Shawn) McKim and their children Ethan and Reagan; Jeremy (Rose) Holmes and their children Ryland, Silas, and Donivan IV; Brody (Christina) Holmes and their daughter Delaney; Samantha (Billy) Whitley and their children Haley, Julian, Domonic and Jessiah; one sister, Minnie Craig of Elmwood, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. Kenny was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Kenny worked as a shipping clerk at Caterpillar for 31 years before retiring. He was a member of Caterpillar Retirees; UAW Local 974; he loved to dance, do woodworking; read western books and watch old western movies.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin, with Steve Stocksiek officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin.
