Kevin M Swoik

Kevin was born on August 22, 1961 in Pekin, IL, the son of Donald and Madonna Swoik Shaughnessy.  Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Donald Swoik on August 23, 1992 and a nephew Jared Douglas Swoik, November 19, 1984.

He is survived by his mother, Madonna Shaughnessy, step-father, Patrick Shaughnessy, brothers, Doug (Vicki) Swoik, Craig (Shirley) Swoik, Terry Swoik and sisters, Debbie (Dave) Smith all of Pekin, IL and Diane (Tracy) Noll of Kokomo, IN.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many friends.

A 1979 graduate of Pekin Community High School, Kevin worked at Pekin City Coal and Asphalt.  Most recently he was self-employed as a painter.  Kevin attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many; as "Family comes first" in Kevin's life, especially his mom.  He was known for his sense of humor and his kindness.  Kevin enjoyed staying busy and possessed many repair and renovation skills.  He enjoyed cooking, yard work and any home improvement project.  Kevin was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a lover of music.

Visitation will be held at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Rosary service will begin at 4:30 p.m.  Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin on Wednesday, March 20th at 10 a.m.  Father James Pankiewicz will officiate.  Cremation will be accorded following services.  Private burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 303 S. Seventh St. Pekin, IL 61554 and designated for the “stair fund” (a project to build new stairs to the choir loft in the church).
