Kurt O Vanderheyden

PEKIN ~ Kurt O. Vanderheyden, 52, of Pekin, passed away at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.He was born Mar. 22, 1958 in Peoria to Henry Curtis "Hank" and Charlotte Marie (Anderson) VanderHeyden. His mother preceded him in death on May 26, 2008 in Pekin.Surviving are his father, Hank (Carol Hayes) VanderHeyden of Morton; several aunts and many nieces and nephews.Kurt was a graduate of Pekin Community High School and earned his Bachelor's degree from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO.He previously worked for the City of Pekin as a gardener and custodian. He also had worked at Famous Barr in Peoria, last working as manager of the Men's Clothing Department. Kurt enjoyed flowers and also helped others with gardening and landscaping.He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.His memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Father Timothy Nolan and Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Cremation will be accorded.
