Born October 1, 1938 in Pekin to Melvin John and Lenora Ailene (Haughawout) Bush, he married Ruth Yvonne “Bonnie” Cross on December 26, 1964 in Pekin. She died April 6, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Tammy Lynn; one sister, Carol Breedlove; and one brother, Gary Bush.
Surviving are two daughters, Vicki (Mark) Balbinot of Canton and Treasa McRoy; one son, Rick (Jill) Long of Pekin; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A United States Army veteran, he served from September 23, 1958 to September 11, 1961. He was a Military Policeman.
Larry worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 47 years, retiring in 2012 as a paint specialist. He was very proud of his time spent at Caterpillar.
He was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin and also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869.
Larry enjoyed bowling and was on a bowling team at Sunset Lanes in Pekin. He also enjoyed his time camping, fishing and going on family vacations. Larry was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. His family will remember him as a soft spoken, good man who loved his candy.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber to officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Army.
