

He was born December 24, 1939 in Pekin to Lee and Edna Mae (Martin) Estes. His parents preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by one brother and two half-brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Larry L. (Shirley) Estes of Galesburg and John E. (Sondra) Estes of Pekin; six grandchildren, Michael Estes, Michelle Estes, Freddie (Nicole) Zimmer, all of Pekin, Miranda Green of Galesburg, Patrick (Rey Ann) Laurent of North Pekin and Alan Bauman of Monmouth; four great-grandchildren, Emmit Laurent, Aurora Bauman, Athena Bauman and Gabe Ball; one sister, Mildred Cooper of Pekin and two brothers, Delbert Estes of Pekin and Charles “Chuck” (Jean) Estes of North Pekin.
Larry worked for Brass Foundry in Peoria for 25 years as a metal pourer, retiring in 1987. He was a retired member of UAW Local 565.
He was known as “Lawn Mower Man” and enjoyed buying, selling and working on riding lawn mowers. He also bought and sold cars.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Connie Rigler will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
