Larry L Schumm

Born September 29, 1955 in Fort Riley, Kansas to Donald Edward and Louise May (Carr) Schumm, he married Cora Lee Hofreiter.

Surviving are his parents, Don and Louise Schumm of Pekin; one son, Kyle Schumm of Broomfield, Colorado; and his special friend, Tammy Jackson of Manito.

His grandparents preceded him in death.

Larry was a farmer in Cincinnati and Sand Prairie Townships for many years.

He was a member of St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in Green Valley and the Tazewell County Farm Bureau.

Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with friends. He played baseball and football during his years at Pekin Community High School and continued to play baseball in the Sunday Morning League in Peoria. He was inducted into the Sunday Morning League Hall of Fame.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016 at St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in Green Valley. Pastor Chris Sansom and DCE William Kruger will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, and also from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Sand Prairie Cemetery in Green Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 13443 Townline Road, Green Valley, IL 61534.
