LaVonda M Ackerson

PEKIN ~ LaVonda Mae Ackerson, 76, of 1005 South 8th Street, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 at Pekin Hospital.Born Nov. 1, 1933 in Bellvue to Leslie and Lola (Lingle) Conley, she married Glenn Ackerson.  He preceded her in death.  She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Chuck Conley and Wayne Conley and one sister, Bernadine Scurlock.Surviving are three daughters, Francies (Mark) Bahling Wolfe, Lola Ackerson and Deborah (John) Harrison, all of Pekin; four sons, Leslie Ackerson of Washington, Robert Ackerson of Pekin, John Corp and Raymond Corp, both of Florida; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.A homemaker, LaVonda enjoyed working crossword puzzles, putting puzzles together and watching home improvement shows.She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the funeral.  Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin.Memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Hospital Foundation, 600 South 13th Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
