

PEKIN ~ Lawrence Eugene "Rocky" Ghidina, 49, of 1602 Catherine Street, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at his home.He was born February 20, 1958 in Pekin to Lawrence Bruno and Delores Louise (Faux) Ghidina.Surviving are his father and step-mother, Lawrence B. "Jr." and Marilyn Ghidina of Pekin; mother, Delores Ghidina of Pekin; two sons, Nicholas L. Cicciarelli of Peoria and Cain J.B. Ghidina of Pekin; one daughter, Christian T. Ghidina of Pekin; four sisters, Paula K. (Chris) O'Neill and Susan R. (Larry) Stuart, both of Pekin, Pamela S. (Dr. R. Scott) Starrett of Newburgh, Indiana, and Cheryl L. (Mike) Skaggs of Manito; two nephews; and eight nieces.His grandparents preceded him in death.He was a United States Marine Corps veteran.Rocky worked in the nail mill at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 10 years. He later was a truck driver for Star Transport for 8 years and Horton Trucking for 3 years. He last was a laborer apprentice with Laborers Local 231 in Pekin.He was of the Catholic faith.He was a former member of the Pekin Moose Lodge #916.Rocky enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and riding motorcycles, but his greatest enjoyment was being with his kids. He was an avid fan of both the Chicago Bears and Saint Louis Cardinals.His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2008at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Pastor Andrew Ramey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin where military will be accorded by the United States Marine Corp and Tazewell Military Rites Team.Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, 530 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, IL 61637.
