Born February 12, 1929 in Monticello, she was the daughter of George and Isabella (Hubbard) Ellis. She married Thomas Franklin Carlton on August 16, 1947 in Creve Coeur. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Pam (Dan) Nelson of Peoria; one granddaughter, Connie (Kevin) Lohmann of Pekin; two great-grandchildren, Trisha Lohmann and Thomas Lohmann; and three great-great-grandsons, Clayton, Hayden, and Grayson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and four sisters.
Leona worked as a table lady at the American Distilling Company and later at Midwest Grain in Pekin for over 30 years.
Leona enjoyed bowling and going for walks.
There will be no services and burial of her cremated remains will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin at a later date.
