

Born February 2, 1920 in Fairdealing, Missouri to Herbert and Ethel Fairless Lucy, he married Beatrice Lorene Baker on May 15, 1937 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2001 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by one son, Leonard Eugene Lucy on September 3, 1977; one brother; one sister and one half-brother.
Surviving are two daughters, Pat (Graham) Moore of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Brenda K. (Donald "Joe") Charland of Marquette Heights; seven grandchildren, Keeley (David) Hoover of Trivoli, Phillip (Heidie) Elsbree of Rockton, Greg (Denise) Elsbree of Aurora, Kelley (Jack) Sandall of Pekin, Mia (Steve) Bartels of Westchester, Kerry Peters of Pekin and Chuck (Peggy) Charland of Marquette Heights; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Lloyd Herman (Evelyn) Lucy of Cahokia; and one half-brother, James Earl (Irene) Parshall of League, Texas. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Marlene Lucy of Green Valley.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 5th Armored Division in the European theater during World War II.
Mr. Lucy worked as an agent for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 17 ½ years, retiring in 1982. After his retirement, he and his wife worked for and served their church as custodians during the 1980s. Previously, he managed the Horton Paint and Wall Paper Company (later becoming Smith and Alsop Paint Company) in downtown Pekin from 1952-65.
He was a former member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Pekin and was a former member of the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin, where he had formerly been a deacon and was a member of the John Moss Sunday school class.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October18, 2005at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2005at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
