Linda L. Thorne

CREVE COEUR ~ Linda Lou Thorne, 87, of Creve Coeur, formerly of Glasford, passed away at 8:50 p.m. on August 25, 2025 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Born on May 12, 1938 in Pekin, to Sam and Dossie (Babb) Wheeler, she married Calvin Gene Thorne on April 26, 1957 in Creve Coeur. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2010.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and six brothers.

Surviving are her son, Donald (Amanda) Thorne of Creve Coeur; her daughter, Connie Weaver of Peoria; four grandchildren, Courtney (Jason Schaab) Thorne of Pekin, Corey (Torey) Walker of Peoria, Connie Jo Weaver of Peoria, and Heather (Richard) Berry of Washington; four great-grandchildren, Clayton Wilson, Johnathon Berry, Mylah Walker and Dean Walker and one great-great-grandchild, Axl Wilson.

Linda worked at the Glasford State Bank for 24 years, retiring in January 1999 as an assistant cashier. She enjoyed collecting Pillsbury Dough Boys and anything to do with street rod cars. Linda was a lifetime member of the Early Ford V8 Club of Peoria. She loved traveling with her husband in their 1948 Ford Coupe across the United States. She was a member of the Glasford Baptist Church.

A private graveside service will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
