

PEKIN ~ Lloyd J. Thomas, 82, of 308 Cedar Avenue, Jonesburg, Missouri, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Jonesburg Caring Center in Jonesburg. He was formerly of 334 Matilda Street in Pekin.
Born August 4, 1927 in Pekin to Jesse Lloyd and Opha J. (Morris) Thomas, he married Norma L. Jackson on December 21, 1945 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Tommy Ray (Mary) Thomas; four grandchildren, Dr. Kimbereley (William) Coleman of Warrenton, Missouri, Jamie Isner of Springfield, Missouri, Toby McCord of Peoria and Kirk Thomas of Chicago; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Mason, Trace Coleman, Anna Coleman and Dawson Coleman and one brother, Philip E. Thomas of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Connie L. McCord in March, 2005; one brother, Salvation Army Major Harold F. Thomas and one sister, Regina M. Hartley.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Lloyd first worked for the Chicago & Illinois Midland Railway. He then worked as an independent insurance agent, owning and operating Thomas-Keyster Insurance Agency on Derby Street in Pekin. He later worked as an agent with Petrov Watkins Insurance in Tremont.
An avid golfer, Lloyd also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and travelling.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
