

She was born August 20, 1924 in Pekin to George John and Adabelle (Rimmey) Garls. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, James D. Garls, Donald F. Garls, Rolan W. Garls and Robert G. Garls; three sisters, Ona B. Ketcham, Mary K. Herrman and Barbara A. Koenig and three in infancy.
Surviving are one son, Paul W. (Kristy) Brown of Austin, AR and Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; three daughters, Sandra K. Sale of Pekin, Linda A. (Kraig) Keller of Highlands Ranch, CO and Georgia M. Brown of Pekin; nine grandchildren, Katherine (Eric) Abbott of Lonoke, AR, Karen Dawson of Austin, AR, Kevin (Jessica) Brown of Fairbanks, AK, Xavier Brown of Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jared (Whitney) Psinas of Navarre, FL, Joshua Psinas, Michelle (Louis) Sinisi, both of Pekin, Ashley Keller and Monte Keller, both of Highlands Ranch, CO; eight great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Pekin Community High School Class of 1942.
She worked for many years in the accounting department at American Distilling Company in Pekin prior to its closing. Lois also had waitressed at Sunset Hills Country Club in Pekin during that time. Lois then worked as the receptionist for the Medical Group on Park Avenue in Pekin for Dr. Romeo Aranas until retiring.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin and faithfully served as a second grade Sunday school teacher for nearly 30 years. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and Rachel-Sarah Circle at the church and formerly attended Friendship Club luncheons. She was a former member of the Delphi Chapter in Pekin.
Lois was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
