Born December 11, 1932 in Havana to Ford M. and Dorothy M. (Steinhart) Heater, she married Gerald E. Wilcoxen on June 27, 1952 in Peoria. He died February 19, 1976. She later married Dale L. Goyen on August 5, 1978 in Havana. He died October 5, 2017. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeffrey Wilcoxen; one stepdaughter, Sandy Goyen and one brother, Jack Heater.
Surviving are one son, Steven (Rachel) Wilcoxen of Stuart, Florida; one daughter, Cheri A. Muller of Washington, with whom she made her home; one step-son, Randy (Ann) Goyen of Pekin; one step-daughter, Kandy (Phil) Wright of Rock Falls; four grandchildren, Scott (Liz) Wilcoxen of New York City, Colin (Adrienne) Wilcoxen of Bel Air, Maryland, Jessica (Richard) Trujillo and Eric Wilcoxen, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one step-grandson, Nick (Kelli Dean) Wright of Sterling and her great-grandchildren, Reid, Elodie, Adeline, Colin, Jr., Amelia, Maverick, Lucy, Alice, Joshua and Jeremiah.
Lois worked for Caterpillar, Inc. then ran a restaurant and filling station in Little America with her first husband, Gerald, before moving to Havana, where they owned and operated “Mr. Appliance” – RCA Major Appliance Store. After moving to Pekin, Lois worked for Dean Cooper State Farm Insurance in Pekin for many years.
Lois was a member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 35 years and served in the kindergarten class for many of those years. She also served the church as head counter for many years and with the Prime Timers Group.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Pekin First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor W. Lloyd Brock will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
