Lori S Berardi

Born July 12, 1960 in Pekin to Warren William and Patricia Kay (Weghorst) Gay, she married Vincent Albert "Vinnie" Berardi on December 22, 1979 at First Assembly of God in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are her parents, Warren and Patricia Gay of Pekin; one daughter, Jennifer L. Berardi of Morton; two sisters, Kathryn A. (Roger) Gensel of Manito and Sandra L. (Mike) Larson of Metamora; two brothers, Kenneth W. (Bobbie) Gay of Tucson, Arizona and David W. (Cindy) Gay of Pekin; and her grandmother, Lorraine C. Weghorst of Pekin.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca L. Berardi on December 31, 1999 in Tampa, Florida.

She was a 1978 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

Lori had worked for Mississippi River Grain and Pekin Insurance for 12 years. She then worked 5 years at the Bradenton Spa in Bradenton, Florida. In 1991, she began working for Staff Leasing which later became Professional Employee Management in Sarasota, Florida until 2000. While at PEM, Lori worked primarily in payroll processing, but also worked in accounts payable and receivable, and bookkeeping. When she moved to Morton, Lori worked part-time as a secretary for Adam Hawk in Peoria and Bethel Lutheran School in Morton.

She was a member of Northwoods Community Church in Dunlap. She also attended Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, where she had served on its school board and had been a cheerleader coach.

Lori enjoyed spending her free time reading, stamp collecting, and doing anything with numbers, which was her passion.

Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Jeffrey Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an educational fund for her daughter, Jennifer Berardi in care of CEFCU.
