

Born February 4, 1941 in Pekin to Earl C. and Elsie M. (Miller) Shelton, he married Diana Stumpf on February 11, 1995 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Joshua (Kathleen) Shelton of St. Louis, Missouri and Brett (Janet) VonDerHeide; one daughter, JoLene Bennett of Peoria; several sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dog, Carlos and his cats, CeCe, Sparky, Tina and Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Lou was a member of Peoria Christian Fellowship.
He had worked as a press foreman at the Pekin Daily Times for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. He had also given golf lessons at Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin for over 20 years.
Lou enjoyed golfing and was proud to have made ten hole-in-ones. He also enjoyed his Thursday afternoon Bible study. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Cardinals.
His memorial service will be 6 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Gabriel Salazar will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 5:45 p.m. prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
