

Born August 7, 1939 in East Peoria, he was the son of George and Mary (McKenzie) Briggs. He married Judith Lynn “Judy” Meyers on December 15, 1962 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Jodi (Chris) Wood of Mackinaw; two grandchildren, Austen Wood of Morton and Ryan (Lexus) Wood of Mackinaw; two great-grandchildren, Wesley Wood and Wyatt Wood and one brother, Larry (Jan) Nash of Powderly, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Naomi Wimmer.
Lowell was a veteran of the United States Navy and served from 1958 to 1962.
He worked for the City of Pekin as a patrolman with the Pekin Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 1995. In retirement he worked as a school bus driver for the city and also worked in security.
Lowell was happiest when he was spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he adored. He always enjoyed visiting and will be remembered for his storytelling. He loved motorcycles and cars. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and sci-fi movies.
Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.
