PEKIN ~ Lucas Alan Neuhaus, 36, of Pekin, passed away at 12:14 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021 at UnityPoint Health – Methodist in Peoria.

He was born December 11, 1984 in Peoria to Dennis Bryon and Denise Lynn (Barnes) Neuhaus.

Surviving are his mother, Denise Neuhaus of Pekin; his father and stepmother, Dennis and Pam Neuhaus of Knoxville; one brother, Jason (Amy) Grant of Creve Coeur; one sister, Melinda (Kenny) Cremeens of Minier and several nieces and nephews that adored their uncle.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Grant on February 8, 2020.

Luke loved writing music, singing his own songs. He liked to draw and paint, but never kept anything for himself. He always gave his paintings away.

He was a die hard Tennessee Titans fan in a sea of Bears and he and his mom looked forward to the day the Titans and the Bears played each other. He was also a great NASCAR fan.

His nephew Brody, said Uncle Luke was a great role model. His nieces and nephews were always found in his lap or sitting next to him to talk. Animals were drawn to him, also, even those who were not supposed to like other people.

Luke was a superhero to some. So many people loved and cared about him. He was caring and intuitive with a multitude of friends. Luke was loved for the memes he posted to make others smile and brighten their day. His friends enjoyed his post about his nieces and nephews and the silly things the pets were doing.

Luke’s family and friends were able to talk to him about anything and everything, day or night. He was always available.

Luke was such a beautiful person who talked through many dark times with friends, helping and encouraging them. His sense of humor was hard to get sometimes. He could tell a tale with such a straight face that people would always believe him.

He was the calm in the storm for the Mean Girls and they loved him fiercely. While he had dark times in his own life, Luke always could be counted on to help someone else.

The great lion heart stopped beating, but his memory will live on in hearts and minds of many forever.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Andrew Linder will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing of masks will be followed. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be given to TAiLS of a Bookworm, 3265 Court Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.

I will always remember you, Luke.

We have so many good memories together. Many of which included you writing songs about me or something absurd that I said. You were true friend and those are hard to find.

Rooftops. Fruit cups. Handcuffs.

I love you and thank you for being my friend.

It can’t rain all the time ❤️

Luke was Our Nephew, and one of the most Special People that EVER lived on this earth! Luke never had a negative word to say about anyone! Luke reminded me of a, "Gentle Giant"! He was a little bit big for all of the kids. Yet was so loving and Gentle with them it was Amazing to watch💖 Our Family get together will never be the same, but we will have them to honor you...to think about you...and to Thank God for each and every person that is there, never again taking anything, or anyone for granted! We Love you Luke...loved you then...love you still...always have...always will❣
