M. Lorraine Murphy

Born October 2, 1924 in Clayton to Orville and Bertha (Seckman) Summy, she married Patrick B. Murphy on August 6, 1943 in Abilene, Texas. He died May 30, 1990 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Kevin Murphy; one brother and four sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Patrick Eugene Murphy of Fairbanks, Alaska and Daniel Joe Murphy of Pekin; two daughters, Patricia Lorraine Dowell and Barbara Sue (Robert) Samms, both of Pekin; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carlene (Ken) Waters of Liberty.

She was a member of the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in Pekin.

A homemaker, Lorraine had also worked briefly for the Illinois Department of Human Services.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday,January23, 2012at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Roger Hamilton will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
