Mabel E Hayes

Born May 24, 1910 in Pekin to George and Elizabeth (Nesselhaus) Pfeiffer, she married Thomas J. Hayes on December 5, 1927 in Bloomington.  She was preceded in death by her husband on April 5, 1980 in Pekin; two brothers; and four sisters.

Surviving are one daughter, Jo Ann (Chuck) Bussone of Pekin; three grandchildren, Tomi (Pete) Ault, Mike (Trisha) Bussone, and Tim Bussone, all of Pekin; five great-grandchildren, Matt (Shannon) Moran, Joey (Christy) Bussone, Jordan (Chelsey) Ault, Anthony Ault, and Katie Bussone; and four great-great-grandchildren, Jack Moran, Molly Moran, Olivia Lalk, and Ajay Bussone.

Mabel  was a beauty operator and managed the salon at Bergner’s in downtown Peoria.  She had also worked at Pekin Community High School West Campus as a cook.She was of the Christian faith.

She enjoyed fishing, needle work, spending time with her grandchildren, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on TV.  She was also a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
