

Born August 3, 1919 in Henry County, Iowa to Marian and Della (Beauchamp) McVey, she married Frederick David Broeker on July 7, 1940 in Brighton, Iowa. He died December 31, 2003 in Boliver, Missouri. She also was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Edward (Cheryl) Broeker of Lewisville, Texas, David Wynn (Patricia) Broeker of Pekin, and Tony Von (Florence Holmes) Broeker of New London, Iowa; one daughter, Deanna Lynn (Roger) Vensland of Davenport, Iowa; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Mable had been an active member of Mount Gilead Methodist Church in Boliver, Missouri for 24 years.
Among her many talents, Mable was an excellent artist. She enjoyed airbrushing the fine details onto calendars. When she was a teenager, she enjoyed a brief career in music and her songs were played on the radio. Although her career didn't last, her love of music was lifelong, and she continued to sing her entire life.
The next several years, Mable was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. Along with her husband, she raised chinchillas and used her skills as a seamstress to make beautiful furs. She cherished her years spent raising her family.
When her children were raised, Mable joined the workforce, working first at New London Glove Factory as a seamstress in New London, Iowa. She finished her working career working for Motorolla in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, retiring after 16 years.
She and her husband spent their retirement years in southwest Missouri, where they spent a great amount of time volunteering for the Pope County Senior Citizens Center in Boliver, Missouri. She had also served as an executive board member for the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging for 13 years.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory. Chaplain Jeff Leeman will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Union, Iowa.
