Malcolm Kidd

EAST PEORIA ~ Malcolm "Mac" Kidd, 91, of 329 Park Ave., passed away at 8:40 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at his residence.

Born August 28, 1919 in Cabin Creek, West Virginia to Robert and Nora Babrey (Barker) Kidd, he married Leona Crawford on October 29, 1938 in Inez, Kentucky.  He later married Mary Ann Cotton on August 6, 1973 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Malcolm Ray (Beverly) Kidd of Ansted, West Virginia and Adam L. Kidd of Creve Coeur; four daughters, Joyce Cogossi of Spring Lake, North Carolina, Joan (Bob) Kidd-Huntley of Ansted, West Virginia, Sylvia (Dave) Miles of Cumberland, Virginia, and Patricia L. “Trish” Kidd of East Peoria; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Kenneth (Patsy) Kidd, Marvin Kidd, and Robert Kidd, all of Dry Branch, West Virginia and Keith Kidd of Akron, Ohio; and one sister, Irma Beasley of St. Albon, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.

Mac worked in the coal mines in West Virginia for twenty years.  He later worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for ten years in research.  A jack of all trades, he also worked building a gas station in Bloomington and a car wash in East Peoria.

He completed an automobile maintenance and repair course with American Technical  Society in Chicago, graduating in 1951.

He was a member of the Creve Coeur American Legion Post #1234.Mac loved playing with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was fond of animals.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.  Rev. Steve Weber will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.  Following the funeral, military rites will be provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.  Cremation will be accorded following services.
