Born November 9, 1963 in East St. Louis to Roger Harold and Ila Mae (Clawson) Steiner, she married Robert “Rob” Hardin on April 23, 2005 in rural Green Valley. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Ila Mae Robb of Industry; two brothers, Roger Steiner of Burlington, Iowa and Curtis Steiner of Macomb; two sisters-in-law, Shawna (Curtis) Sprinkle of Macomb and Becky (Tim) Cobb of Manito; one brother-in-law, Tim Cobb of Manito, two nephews, Calvin Steiner and Felix Steiner (Curtis and Shawna) and her mother-in-law, Alona Hardin of Manito.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Steiner in 2001; her step-father, Roger Robb in 2009; her sister, Lucinda Steiner in 1981 and her father-in-law, Darold Hardin in 2018.
Marcella's early childhood was spent on the east coast of the United States until her family settled in Industry in the mid 1970's. Marcella graduated Industry High School in 1982, and attended Parkland College where she studied to become a dental hygienist.
Marcella worked as a dental hygienist for more than 35 years, working in Pekin and Morton. In Morton she enjoyed working for Dr. Johnson until his retirement and afterwards she continued in the same building to work for Dr. Manny until her health forced her to resign. More than just her dentists, they were both her friends.
Marcella had a bubbly personality that everyone loved. She could always be counted on to bring a smile to the faces of her family and friends whenever she was around. She enjoyed helping her Aunt with her antique business at the Sunday market in Bloomington. She also enjoyed lunch outings with her close friends, Debbie and Donna. Her two nephews meant the world to her, and she would spoil them whenever she could.
Closer to home, Marcella enjoyed gardening and always had many beautiful flowers around the house. She loved the outdoors, and would enjoy top down drives in the summer months and spending time relaxing on the deck at her home, soaking in the sun. Married for 18 wonderful years, her loving husband Rob remained with her all the way through her last days.
Her memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private graveside services will be held in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Colchester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, 8630 Illinois Route 91, Peoria, IL 61615, whose wonderful staff helped make her final days as comfortable as possible.
