Margery Alice Fogal

PEKIN ~ Margery Alice Fogal, 88, of Pekin, passed away at 12:23 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at Reflections Memory Care in Morton. After days surrounded by family and friends, she opened her eyes, smiled, and then entered the Kingdom of Heaven.

Born on July 13, 1937 in Springfield to Lyman Cissel and Alice Elizabeth (Canterbury) Young, she married William Duane Fogal on December 23, 1961 in Athens. He died April 19, 2020. She also was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clair Edwin Young and Cissel Eugene Young.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary (Tim) Bruin of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sons, Matthew (Kathy) Fogal of Springfield and Daniel (Deana) Fogal of Pekin; five grandsons, Caleb Bruin, Clayton (Allison) Bruin, Cameron Williams, Alexander Williams and Anthony (Kanieca) Williams; one great-granddaughter, Lily Williams and one brother, David Lee Young of St. Louis, Missouri.

Margery was a dedicated educator and a lifelong learner. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and went on to earn her master’s degree in 1967 from the University of Illinois. Her career spanned 35 years as an educator at Pekin Community High School District 303, where she retired in 1999. Additionally, she shared her knowledge by teaching business classes at Illinois Central College.

Margery had a love for spending time with her family. Her generous spirit was evident in her enjoyment of helping others.

Margery was a devoted member of the Pekin Lighthouse Church of God

Her faith and dedication to her community were hallmarks of her life.

Private burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

Margery will be remembered for her contributions to education, her love of family, and her unwavering faith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Church of God, 1010 El Camino Drive, Pekin, IL 61554.
