Born August 20, 1929 in rural Farmington to Josiah and Mable Blanche (Slack) Evans, she married Walter Leonard Smith on January 4, 1947 in rural Glasford. He died January 19, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and one grandson, Keith Jacob.
Surviving are two daughters, Sheila (Glenn) Jacob and Sherry (William) Baird, both of Pekin; one son, Joe (Janice) Smith of Pekin; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
A homemaker, she was a very active member of the South Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Pekin.
She enjoyed baking and gardening.
Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Kingdom Hall in Pekin. Elder Dave Bowman will officiate.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
