

PEKIN ~ Marilyn June Berger, 78, of 2812 Florida Street, Northeast in Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away at 1:38 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008 at her residence. She was formerly of Pekin. Born June 22, 1929 in Pekin to Christ and Rose (Keller) Lichtenberger, she married Thomas E. Berger in 1968. He survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Jennifer (Samuel) Sandoval and Cynthia (Eric) Gfeller, both of Albuquerque, and Beth (Thomas) Steele of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one brother, Ken (Lee) Lichtenberger of Tucson, Arizona. Marilyn first worked for Farmers Auto Insurance in Pekin. She then worked at Caterpillar, Inc. until moving to Albuquerque in 1965. She last worked for the Social Security Administration until her retirement in 1972. She loved traveling across the United States to visit her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the entertainment and joy of all of her wonderful grandchildren. Marilyn also loved and cherished meeting new friends on their motor home trips. Her visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Private burial will be Friday in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4234 North Knoxville Avenue, Peoria, IL 61614 or to a cancer charity of the donor's choice.
