He was born to Chester and Laura (Bates) Townsend on July 8, 1936 in Delavan Ilinois. They preceded him in death.
Marion first married Sally Chandler and then Marnie “Linda” Dagit.
He is survived by his children, Gene Townsend, Sandra Townsend, Kimmie Townsend, Terry (Jilda) Townsend, Shawn (Cindi) Townsend, and Terry Dorsey; grandchildren, Sabra, Jason (Danielle), Christi, Zach, Meghann “Meg”, Daniel “PJ” (Jennifer), and Jesse.
Also surviving are his eight great-grandchildren; his nieces Betty Townsend, Carol Johnson, their children; and a lifelong friend Randall Metzger.
He was preceded in death by five siblings.
Marion was known around town as a hardworking man. He worked for Local 112 as an Iron Worker and went on to own his own construction company P & M Construction. He worked up until about three months ago.
Marion will not only be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, but as a United States Army Veteran.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 20, 2018 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin.
