Mark Douglas Adkins

Born September 28, 1951 in Peoria to Harold LaVerne and Helen Louise (Funk) Adkins, he married Michelle Harr on September 16, 1969 in Hannibal, Missouri. He later married Doreen Williams on December 10, 1993 in Lewistown.

Surviving are three sons, Mark Douglas Hodgson, Troy Hodgson, both of Jacksonville, FL and Charles Lavern Adkins of Pekin; one daughter, Mellissa Annette Adkins of Cuba; several grandchildren; one sister, Connie Rae (James) McAvoy-Michaelson of North Pekin; several aunts; one uncle and his cousins.

His parents preceded him in death.

Mark was retired from the railroad, where he worked his way up to an electrician.

He was an avid woodcarver of Indian Heads and enjoyed gardening. A people person, Mark also enjoyed motorcycle riding.

His graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. The Rev. Dwight Winnett will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
