

Born March 31, 1955 in Peoria to John George “Jack” and Ruth (Losher) Fandel, he married Debra Joyce “Debbie” Riddle on July 19, 1980 in Tremont. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Nicholas (Leslie) Fandel of Chatham; one daughter, Laura (Clint) Gossmeyer of Tremont; two grandchildren, Logan Fandel and Vivienne Gossmeyer; one brother, Greg (Alberta) Fandel of Germantown Hills; three nieces and nephews, Doug (Angie) Fandel, Karl (Maureen) Fandel, and Bonnie (Travis) Engstrom; fourteen great-nieces and nephews; and his adopted cat, Tigger.
His parents preceded him in death.
Mark worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for over 40 years, retiring in 2016 as a machinist in the Transmission Business Unit in East Peoria.
He attended Christ Bible Church in Creve Coeur, where he and Debbie served as Treasurers.
Mark enjoyed traveling with Debbie to numerous destinations, including his favorite trips to London. He took great pride in his lawn and tending to his fish aquarium. Mark will be remembered for his kindness, devotion to helping others, and his dry sense of humor. However, his greatest joy was being with his wife, children, grandchildren, and his extended family.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Tom Pisano will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
