She was born June 1, 1933 in Quincy, Illinois to Carl and Beatrice (Markus) Schell. She married Frank Weibring on July 4, 1953. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1993. Also preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers and a grandson, Sammy Grieser on August 24, 2017.
Surviving are five children, Cathy (Robert Haag) Veteto of Yelm, WA, Karen (Robert) Grieser of Chandler, AZ, David (Jody) Weibring of Ida Grove, IA, Michael (Cindy) Weibring of Pekin, and Steven (Eva) Weibring of Peoria, IL; one brother, Mark Schell of Quincy, IL. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Shelly (Sam) Hayes of Morton, Tina Gilbert of Pekin, Dawn (Jason) Tibbs of Gilbert, AZ, Robb (Liela) Grieser of Chandler, AZ, Chris Weibring of Montgomery, IL, Heather (Jared) Bogue of Ida Grove, IA, Joseph (Amanda) Weibring of Chatham, IL, Jonathan (Jennifer) Weibring of Dunlap, Rachel (Josh) Welker of Hanna City, and Shannon (Terry) Birdsell of Pekin, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Martha worked as a clerk at Walden Book Store in Pekin for many years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. She was an active volunteer with Pekin Hospital League and Nearly Nu, where she also served as Treasurer. She also enjoyed singing and was active in the her church choir, church activities and volunteering at St. Joseph School.
Martha had a passion for traveling and was able to visit most of the United States and parts of Europe. She also enjoyed the many trips with her children, nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the amazing Sunday Breakfasts together with the family. Martha loved decorating for the holidays and this was evident with the many Santa's and Nutcracker's she had collected over the years.
To know her was to love her.
A visitation will be on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 10:00 am until noon, with a funeral service immediately following at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. Deacon Mark Wilder will officiate. Burial will follow the service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. The family requests that mask be worn.
