I'm so sorry for your loss.  Mr. Lohnes was a wonderful neighbor and friend.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Mr and Mrs Lohnes several years ago around 12-14. I bought some beautiful vaseline glasses from them at a garage sale! They were so interesting to talk to, new all about the Pekin area and where everything used to be. I cherished my grandparents who by then had been gone for years. They gave me a fun learning day! Mr.Lohnes is in heaven waiting for his lovely bride. They were so cute together. I am very sorry for you loss. Gods blessings on all of you.

Grandpa- I may not of been you granddaughter by blood, but you have always made me feel a part of the family. To tell you what I will miss the most I could not name just one. I'm going to miss you a lot on the holidays. You always had some way of making us laugh, if it wasnt you telling the boys to take there hats off at the table you where giving everyone else a earful. If I was too busy chasing children or setting the table you made me stop give you a hug and say hi. Im so glad you did, because I miss it so much already. This Easter and all the holidays to come is going to be hard without you. We will all be wishing you where there. Kierstyn is going to miss her grandpa too, but I can promise her your up in Heaven now looking at us with your arms open to give us a hug and a smile as big as they come. My Grandpa was the most inspirational man I ever knew. While I didn't spend as much time growing up near him as I would have liked, his influence on me was still more than anyone else's. His tenacity, relentlessness, and hard-work ethic made me who I am today, and I always respected his dedication - whether to his favorite baseball team, his automobile of choice, or his favorite coffee.

While I know that Grandpa drove Grandma crazy, he loved her dearly. He loved everyone around him, and was always quick with a smile, a joke, and a handshake. (then he would start fussin about women drivers! haha...)

I'll miss the conversations we had, both over the phone and in person. He taught me a great deal about life, and much was done without even saying a single word. 

Goodbye, Grandpa - I love you.

ps. I'll still be drivin' Chevy's and rootin on the Cardinals for ya.....

  Marv Was a great Neighbor for 2 young kids that Moved in next to Marv and Dora Jean on So. 6th st. 45 years ago . We could not have had better neighbors. 
   I also Enjoyed hanging out at the Miller center Carving room , He was a good inspitation to all that knew hem their. He Will be missed by all that knew hem .

I remember the old neighborhood when living on Barbara Road and seeing Marvin working in the yard. He is up with the angels and is no longer suffering.

Mere words cannot express the gratitude and love I feel for this wonderful man.

He was my boss/mentor for several years at Caterpillar, in the Purchasing Department.  A true professional in every sense of the word.

Marv was a very humble person, who never talked much about himself.  But on several trips across the US with him, I was able to learn about his service in WW II, where he witnessed horrors beyond our imagination.

Marv shared photos he took of the liberation, he participated in, of one of the most infamous of death camps.  He never forgot the suffering of those people and I never will forget his sharing of these most intimate thoughts.

I had the pleasure of visiting him in January, with my cousin, Spike Guidotti.

We had a very pleasurable time reminiscing about our days in the Purchasing Department back in the late 60s early 70s.  His mind was as sharp as ever concerning the experiences we shared.
