Mary Chism

Born December 15, 1924 in Purcell, Oklahoma to William Allen and Ada Mae (Cates) Snow, she married Olen D. Chism on November 13, 1943 in Lilbourn, Missouri. He died October 20, 2008 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Robert Lynn Chism; five brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Michael D. (Charlene) Chism of East Peoria and Jack W. (Elizabeth) Chism of Otterbein, Indiana; five grandchildren, Michael D. (Terri) Chism, Jr. of Metamora, Jamie P. McDougall and Jennifer M. Chism-Soneck, Brent R. (Jackie) Chism, all of Pekin and Jason A. Chism of Raub, Indiana; three step-grandaughters, Bridgette (Mike) Whitten-Shane of Peoria, Tara Isenberg of Glen Carbon and Amanda (Tracy) Wright of West Lafayette, Indiana; 13 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe (Barbara) Snow of Milan and Robert Glen (Sara) Snow of Georgia; and one sister, Betty Phillips of Florida.

She had worked at Pekin Community High School in the cafeteria for 13 years, last working in 1982.

She enjoyed crocheting, fishing and camping, and loved taking care of her grandchildren.

Mary was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Pekin.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Randy Justus will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.
