Born March 1, 1942 in Pekin to Raymond C. and Wilma Rose (Wilson) Thomas, she married Steven “Steve” Eugene Depew on November 26, 1988 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Chuck (Colleen) Wilson of Mackinaw and Mike (Stefanie) Wilson of Pekin; four daughters, Kathy (Chuck) McCoy of Pekin, Laury Stevens of Glasford and Teresa Lohman and Nicole (Jeremy) Jones, both of Pekin; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; two brothers; one sister and one son-in-law.
Mary last worked as a caregiver at Kyle’s Care at Home in Pekin for several years. Prior to that, she worked as a waitress at the Normandy Club, owned and operated a licensed day care for 10 years and also worked at PAL Technologies in Pekin.
She found joy and loved working in the yard and taking care of her koy ponds. Mary was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved traveling.
Mary was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin, where she was active in the Fellowship Club.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. Rev. Daniel Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Additional visitation will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
