Mary L Dooley

Born December 14, 1925 in Maroa, IL to William Ciol and Verna Deane (Humes) Oakley, she married Edward J. Dooley on July 10, 1965 in Decatur. He died December 2, 1995 in Sunnyland. Also preceding her in death are her parents; two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are one son, Jock Dooley of Peoria Heights; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Justin) Dooley-Davis of Peoria Heights; one grandson, Shawn (Sarah) Knaggs of Peoria and nine great-grandchildren.

She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria where she had been active and sang in the choir.

Mary had been an Administrative Assistant at Metropolitan Life Insurance for 25 years, retiring in 1992. She had also sold Avon products for 70 years.

A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she also loved her dogs, playing the piano, singing, painting and drawing.

Her memorial visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. There will be no services. Private burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria.
