

Born August 28, 1924 in Springfield, Missouri to Henry and Lulu Wanda (Melton) Norton, she married Raymond F. Hall on July 5, 1947 in Springfield, Missouri. He died Nov. 17, 1974. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Raymond Dennis Hall on September 22, 2004; one brother, James Henry Norton and one sister, Evelena Tindle.
Surviving are one daughter, Wanda (David) Thomas of Fort Myers, Florida; three sons, Frankie Lee (Karen) Norton, William Joseph Norton and James Henry (Patty) Hall, all of Pekin; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A homemaker, Mary Ellen was a caregiver for both her husband and son, Denny.
Faith and family were a big part of her life. She was active with the Salvation Army in Pekin for many years and was a member of the Home League and the League of Mercy. She also was a member of the Gold Star Wives of America.
Her graveside funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
