

Born August 3, 1922 in Pekin to William F. and Lucille J. (Bruder) Adcock, she married John G. Maas, Sr. on October 2, 1939 in Burlington, Iowa. He died February 18, 2003 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Yvonne Morris on January 24, 2012 in Pekin; one great-grandson, P.J. Alvey; two brothers, Bill Adcock and Dick Adcock; two sisters, Rose Oltman and Dorothy Melloy and two daughter-in-laws, Patricia Maas and Pearlene Maas.
Surviving are two sons, John G. (Pam) Maas, Jr. of Green Valley and Larry D. Maas of Vandalia, Michigan; one daughter, Diana L. (Gary) Mathison of Bradenton, Florida; twelve grandchildren, Debby (Dennis) Hoehn of South Pekin, Teresa (Rich) Sebelist and Gordon Lee (Sherry) Morris, II, both of Pekin, Steven Morris of South Pekin, Melissa Brown of Bartonville, Jon (Tina) Maas of Mackinaw, Lorrie (Geoffrey) Romer of Dyer, Indiana, Sean (Sara) Maas of LaPorte, Indiana, Heather (Chris) Melton of Seminole, Florida, Marnie Koeppel and Michelle Mathison, both of Bartonville, and Melissa Poulsen of Creve Coeur; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Pat (Walt) Lohmann of Pekin and Beverly Bowman of Pekin.
Mary was a member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin, where she belonged to the Friendship Club.
She had worked for Bergner’s as a supervisor in the Children’s Department for ten years, retiring in 1980. She previously worked for Reulings in downtown Pekin for ten years.
Mary liked to do crocheting and embroidery work. She also enjoyed fishing and doing lots of reading.
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Second Reformed Church in Pekin. Pastor Bill Appleyard-Pekich will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
