TREMONT ~ Mary Ellen Mann, 86, of 20119 Red Shale Hill Road, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at her home.She was born January 17, 1922 in Elm Grove Township, Tazewell County to Irvin William and Luella Mae (Shields) Mann.Surviving are two brothers, Orville W. Mann of Tremont and Merle E. (Barb) Mann of Pekin; one sister, L. Mae (Bill) Garner of Easton; six nieces and three nephews including, Cheryl A. (Mike) McKinley of Pekin and John E. (Monica) Mann of Chillicothe, who she helped raise; and many great-nieces and nephews.Her parents and one brother, John I. Mann, preceded her in death.Mary worked for Tremont Greenhouse and Pioneer Seed in Morton. She later did home and office cleaning in the Tremont area.She was a member of Tremont Baptist Church and the Tremont Women's Club.Mary enjoyed gardening and dedicated her life to taking care of her family.Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2008at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. David Craig will officiate.
