
PEKIN ~ Mary Winifred Sisson, 87, of 1520 El Camino Drive, passed away at 6:03 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Pekin Manor. She was formerly of 1047 North Emily Place in Peoria and 444 South Parkway Drive in Pekin.
Born October 8, 1919 in Decatur to Leland Eugene and Amy Gertrude (Chaplin) Jayne, she married Lewis M. Sisson on June 30, 1962 in Peoria. He died December 1, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister-in-law; and two half-brothers.
Surviving are one niece, Virginia L. Mills of Bartonville; several grandnieces;and one great-grandnephew.
Mary attended Illinois State University in Normal and graduated from Bradley University in Peoria in 1948.
Mary was a school teacher in Florida and later for Pekin Public Schools District #108 at Douglas School from 1943 to 1958. She last taught for Peoria School District #150 at White School from 1958, until retiring in 1965. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria, where a memorial service will be held at a later date. She donated her body to medical science.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
