Born January 26, 1938 in Louisville, Kentucky to Lawrence and Gladys (Brown) Smith, she married John Clayton Stiers on June 17, 1976. He died July 7, 2016.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dog, Rocky.
Surviving is her daughter, Kim Kouski of Peoria; two sisters, Paula Helm of Pekin and Shirley Browning of Pekin; one brother, Larry Smith of Tennessee and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mary had worked in hospital systems and computer programs, retiring in 2000.
She enjoyed reading mystery and spy novels, doing counted cross stitch and other craft projects. She was known around Pekin as the “white haired lady with a stripe of pink hair”.
A private burial will take place at Mary’s request. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
