

Born December 20, 1930 in Peoria to Roy and Catherine (Peters) Smith, she married Albert W. Stiles on June 17, 1947 in East Peoria. He died March 8, 2013 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Bertie Stiles and Timothy Brian Stiles and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Angie Stiles Richardson of Peoria; one son, David (Susie) Stiles of Mapleton; four grandchildren, Tracey (Chad) Harlan, Jennifer (Charles) Young, Aaron (Kara) Stiles and Tori Richardson; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Mildred Campbell of Grants Pass, OR.
Mary attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria. Previously, she was very active in the Church of God in East Peoria where she was the longtime church pianist. A homemaker, Mary had worked for several years as a buyer’s assistant at Bergner’s in downtown Peoria.
She had a razor-sharp wit and could tell a story like no one else. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She also loved wearing lots of jewelry and you rarely saw her without her fingernails painted. Mary was an animal lover, and dearly loved visits from her two Grand-dogs, Jasper and Gunther.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2014 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria. Pastor Dick Garber will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
