Melissa Jo Guss

Born March 27, 1986 in Pekin to Terry Douglas and Peggy Boyd, she married Mark Guss on July 23, 2018 in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are her parents; her step-father, Greg Methner of Florida; three sisters, Toni Pennington, Nichole (Charles) Medina and Amy Methner, all of Florida; one brother, Dylan (Lisa) Boyd of Pekin; three step-sons, Tyler, Trentyn and Tanner; her aunt Suzie; mother-in-law, Shirley Guss of Galesburg; sister-in-law, Angela (Evan Didway) Guss of Pekin and three uncles and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Melissa worked as the assistant manager of housekeeping for Holiday Inn & Suites in East Peoria.

She loved the sun, in her free-time she could be found tanning, laying on the beach and riding motorcycles. Melissa also loved spending time with family and fishing with Greg.

Her visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no service and cremation will follow the visitation.

Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
