

Born August 21, 1944, she was a daughter of Clifton M. and Frances Elizabeth (Combs) Creighton. Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Donald “Donny” (Dana) Sayles of Pekin; one daughter, Jennifer (Gregg) Bradshaw of Pekin; three grandchildren, Tori (Logan) Smith of Pekin, Riley Bradshaw and Tanner Bradshaw, both of Pekin; one great-granddaughter, Lainey Smith; one sister, Mary Ehrgott of Peoria; two nephews, Edwin Ehrgott, Jr. and John Ehrgott and one niece, Lisa (Tony) Street.
Merna dedicated her professional life to helping others, working as a psychologist alongside Dr. Espie Kabatay. She also made a significant impact in the real estate sector as a realtor with Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Pekin for many years.
Her personal life was enriched by her love for her family and friends. Merna was a devoted grandmother, always present and supportive at her grandchildren's events. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She also had a deep affection for her animals.
Merna was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, where she sang in the church choir.
Merna will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the warmth she brought to the lives of those around her.
Her memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will follow the Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
