

Born July 13, 1934 in Springfield to Michael and Josephine Marie (Watts) Petrone, he married Lola Pearl Barker on January 25, 1958 in Springfield. She died February 10, 2019 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Thomas Joseph Petrone; one grandson, Joseph Robert Petrone; one brother, David Petrone and two sisters, Carol Lynn Petrone and Beverly Fowler.
Surviving are two sons, Michael David Petrone of West Peoria and Matthew Joseph Petrone of Nashville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Anthony Michael Petrone and Nicole Lynn (Robert) Thompson, both of East Peoria; nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Marilyn Petrone of Dallas, Texas.
A United States Navy veteran, Mike then served more than 20 years in the Navy and then Army reserves.
He was retired from Caterpillar, Inc., where he had worked as a tool and die maker.
Mike loved working with his hands doing woodworking and also painting.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Springfield and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
