Michelle Rene Rhoades

She was born September 26, 1966 in Pekin to Ronald Kent and Linda Carroll (Herring) Lewis.

She married her childhood crush, Lance Ray Rhoades on March 14, 1993 in Pekin. They raised four children together and enjoyed spoiling their seven grandchildren.

Michelle is survived by her husband; children, Lanny Rhoades of Manito, Ashleigh Rhoades of Pekin and Kaitlyn Rhoades of South Pekin; her grandchildren, Savanna, Averie, Brynli, Rilyn and Harper, Abel and Avalyn. She is also survived by her stepmother and stepfather, Ann (Lewis) and Pat Brand; one sister, Mandy (Lewis) Majors of Morton; and four brothers, Andy Lewis of Bloomington, Scott (Jennifer) Lewis of Peoria, Chris (Karen) Lewis of Pekin and Chuck Lewis of Pekin. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as many cousins who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Hagler; father, Ron Lewis; stepfather, Duane Hagler, and all maternal and paternal grandparents.

Michelle enjoyed being a homemaker for many years. She also spent time managing Video Adventures in Peoria for many years, worked at Heinold Banwart and Bard Optical, as well as working with special needs adults, which brought her joy and showed her nurturing spirit. She was also a paramedic EMT volunteer for the Forman Ambulance. She was a 1984 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

Michelle enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandbabies, and any time spent in her garden or around a good fire. Michelle’s kindness and sense of humor will be missed by anyone who knew her. She was a great cook and an outstanding baker. She was an adoring wife, mother, Mimi, daughter, sister and friend and will be missed beyond words.

Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Brock Winkler will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded after the funeral.
