

PEKIN ~ Millie LaVerne Little, 90, of 2220 State St., passed away at 12:05 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 at Timbercreek Rehab & Healthcare in Pekin.
Born January 23, 1921 in Fountain Run, Kentucky to Johnnie C. and Mary Bell (Clarkston) Gosnell, she married Honor Karse Little on June 14, 1941 in Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1993. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, William Wilson Little; two brothers; six half-sisters; and ten half brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Bobbie Eugene (Linda) Little of Normal and Carl Duane Little of Pekin; one daughter, Mary Shoemaker of Canton; six grandchildren, Julie Little-Carlton of Normal, Eric (Carrie) Little of Batavia, Steve (Christy) Little of Green Valley, Jeff (Shelly) Little of Pekin, Brian (Diane) Little of Wheaton and Mark Shoemaker of Springfield and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Millie was a member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene, where she was very active for many years and served the church in recording the cradle roll.
A homemaker, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making crafts. Her family will fondly remember her as a wonderful cook, especially for her pie baking. In earlier years, she was an avid bowler and even had bowled a 300 game.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. W. Lloyd Brock will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.
