

Born March 28, 1927 in Sublette to Mirl, Sr. and Esther Doris (McCray) Trenholm, he married Genevieve Ellen Daily on December 16, 1967 in Dixon. She died on August 30, 1987. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Trenholm; one brother and four sisters.
Surviving are one son, Jim Trenholm of South Pekin; three daughters, Christy (Frank) Schmall of Dixon; Carol Trenholm and Linda Trenholm; two grandsons, Patrick Schmall and Nicholas Trenholm, both of Dixon; three great-grandchildren and one sister, Gretchen Montgomery of Pekin.
A World War II Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater, Mirl retired from the military in 1970 with 26 years of service as an Engineman First Class. He then worked for the P & PU Railroad for 15 years, retiring in 1985.
Mirl enjoyed collecting model trains and train memorabilia. He also recycled aluminum cans, riding ATVs and enjoyed playing the lottery.
He was a well loved member of the community and will be greatly missed.
He was a lifetime member of the Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 in Pekin.
His visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where military rites will be accorded at 7 p.m. by the United States Navy and Tazewell Military Rites Team. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.
