

Born April 20, 1955, in Pekin to Edward and Elizabeth (Moltz) Bruen; she married Joseph Hartley on December 4, 1981, in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Stacie (Joe) Gianessi of Pekin, Damon Bruen of Pekin, Tracy (Alicia) Hartley of Pekin; two stepsons, Jamie Hartley of Peoria and Jeff (Wendy) Kellermann of Bloomington; one step-daughter, Mary (Dave) Taylor of Sheldon, Missouri; many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Greg (Mickie) Bruen of Pekin, Brian Bruen of Pekin and Jim (Diane) Bruen of Pekin; one sister, Donna (Tony) Ward of Peoria and her best friend, Cheryl Revelle of South Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marty Bruen and Patrick Bruen; one sister, Barb Belt, one great grandson, and her fur baby, Gizmo.
Moira served for over 30 years in the Tazewell County governmental offices, retiring in 2019, as the Election Administrator, located in the County Clerk’s Office.
She was active in the AFSCME Union, where she advocated for the working class and the APA Central Illinois Pool League, winning the Pekin City Tournament multiple times and competing in Las Vegas.
Moira was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend to many, whose life was rooted in family, faith, and love. A true fighter, she faced adversity with unwavering faith and survived cancer three times. She loved to laugh, spend time with her family and friends, dance, sing karaoke, and play the slot machines, often sharing her winnings with her loved ones. She was usually the last person to leave a function, never without a hug and saying “I love you, bunches!”. Her immense heart and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pekin.
Moira's memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday March 31, 2026, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Pekin. A rosary service will be at 10:30 am. Father Greg Jozefiak will officiate. Inurnment will follow the service at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Her memorial visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2026, also at the funeral home.
